Miro Tomasik

Software Engineer

About

Software engineer who builds scalable AI platforms end-to-end — from concept to live deployment. Most recently built Dress Art, a generative AI tool for custom apparel design (LLM orchestration, full backend, payments, production). Background in tackling complex systems, including quantum computing on IBM's Qiskit.

Work

Dress Art
|

Founding Engineer

Summary

Built an end-to-end platform from scratch that lets users design, edit, buy and sell custom clothing ("from idea to wardrobe"). I started out by tweaking and self-hosting open-source diffusion models. When self-hosting got too expensive to scale, I wrote a custom adapter for third-party APIs. This lets the platform easily swap between multiple models, always defaulting to the current state-of-the-art model.

Principal Software Engineer

Summary

Built a custom AI platform on Kubernetes to serve open-source LLMs.

Highlights

Built out the API layer on Dell Digital Cloud, handling the heavy lifting of load balancing, rate limiting, and request routing to expose reliable, OpenAI-compatible endpoints.

Drove the architecture and internal implementation of MCP.

Data Engineer

Summary

I built and optimized complex data platforms. From secure research environments to financial forecasting tools.

Highlights

Francis Crick Institute: Built a Trusted Research Environment (TRE) on AWS and Snowflake, giving global research labs a secure, strictly compliant way to share sensitive data.

Arch Insurance: Engineered a Data Vault for their reinsurance division, combining Kimball modeling, DBT, and Snowflake.

Carnival UK: Built a core Booking data model using Python, DBT, and Snowflake. To speed up the migration, I wrote a solution to auto-generate the staging layer directly from their legacy SQL and CTL files.

Quantexa: Built a Streamlit web app powered by Pandas and Snowpark to run 'what-if' financial scenarios and forecast project revenue.

IBM

Software Developer

Summary

Built applied AI products (computer vision, NLP) and managed the core infrastructure — from Kubernetes to CI/CD pipelines. I also actively contributed to IBM's open-source quantum framework, Qiskit.

Highlights

Open-Source Quantum (Qiskit): Wrote new features and fixed bugs for IBM’s Qiskit framework, while also mentoring developers at global events like the Korean Quantum Hackathon and IBM Quantum Challenge. I stayed engaged with the community for a few years post-IBM.

Live Video Processing (FOX Sports): Integrated Watson Video Enrichment directly into the FOX Sports broadcast pipeline, automatically processing live football matches to generate and tag searchable video clips in real-time.

Kubernetes & GitOps (Roche Diagnostics): Built and maintained a Jenkins Shared Library to standardize deployment pipelines. Handled the heavy lifting of deploying and maintaining applications on Kubernetes using a strict GitOps workflow and custom Helm charts.

Enterprise Migration (UNIQA): Handled the migration of a legacy content management system to FileNet. Instead of just a lift-and-shift, we wrote the custom extensions needed to keep their core business operations running smoothly on the new stack.

Computer Vision Bot (Hornbach): Built a Facebook Messenger bot that let users snap a photo of an item, using Watson Visual Recognition to identify the object and automatically recommend similar catalog products.
